The Team is getting it together!

I'm filling in a little for Friday since I've been sans-internet for a few days. But I've got to be brief - it's bedtime here and we have a pretty huge day Monday. Note: pictures will be much improved when I post them to the gallery (which will be accessible from here soon, I hope!) that I'm putting together and have a chance to edit them a little... can't do much from here, unfortunately.

Anyway, Friday we really rocked in the O.R. - It almost felt like home, except for the little details like the patient's armboards, which are actually slabs of lumber with white paint chipping off. We steal hotel towels to make them a little more comfortable for the patients..And we only have one stirrup to support the legs (for you non-medical people, those are the metal things that all women pretty much hate), so for our second case we put the left leg in the antiquated holder, and used one of our incredibly sweet nursing students, Sopakna, to hold the other. Ahh, Cambodia!
Marilyn is our first casualty to the GI plague today - so Nancy O and Kris drug her to the clinic, started and IV, and gave her a couple of litres of IV fluid and assorted drugs in an attempt to resuscitate her for the big Siem Reap trip!.. She rallied and all's well. It's very handy to have a full medical team ready to spring into action at the first sign of a team casualty.

Dominique, Denise and I finally made it to the pool for an hour or so when we were done - We had a round of 'Sex on the Beach' (the pink fruity DRINK version, for all of or spouses' information ), and I've got hilarious pictures of a cabana boy that was magnetized to Denise. Please consult her for further details :-)
